John C. Palmer, Principal Partner
Mr. Palmer is a North Carolina State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser (License A5928) and a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker (License 198326). He is a native of Charleston, SC, beginning his career in commercial and investment real estate at firms including Read & Read Realtors and Edens & Avant. Eventually, he formed The Palmer Company, Inc., specializing in the acquisition, development, management, and leasing of real estate ventures. Other projects included general and special purpose real estate acquisitions and developments, including retail and office properties and historic rehabilitations. In 2002 he relocated to Asheville, NC as an associate with a local appraisal and consulting group. In 2006, he re-established The Palmer Company, Inc. with offices in Asheville and Lenoir.
He is a CDA – Coalition Designated Associate – General – Designation #D-020 with the North Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition (NCPAC), Sponsor of the Appraisal Foundation.

Through his professional associations, he has experience with professional ethics and standards enforcement, in the past serving as chair of the Professional Standards Committee of the Charleston Trident Board of Realtors, chair of the Grievance Committee for the South Carolina Association of Realtors, and treasurer of Elderlink, Inc.
He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Asheville, serving as Club President for the 2013-2014 year and the Club Foundation President for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 years.

Denise A. Long, MS, Director of Operations and Business Development
Ms. Long earned her Master’s degree in Applied Psychology and worked in mental health and substance abuse treatment and administration for over twenty years before joining the firm in July of 2008. She is responsible for general office operations, human resources, financial functions, and marketing.

Valerie Johnson, Clerk
Ms. Johnson joined our firm in December 2011. She provides research skills, data entry, and report editing services on all projects.
Other employees provide data entry, report editing, research and comparable analysis, in addition to plan drawing and report presentation. In addition, we have associations with other specialists, such as licensed engineers and surveyors, on a per-project basis, allowing us to bring additional expertise to various projects.
